'Banana Reef' is the first dive site discovered in the Maldives and still among the best. The plate corals (Acropora) on the reef slope are some of the most pristine in the Maldives. The best diving on this banana shaped reef is at the north eastern end where there are caves, gutters and precipitous overhangs filled with ornamental fish and soft corals. Napoleon Wrasse, Moray eels in amazing numbers and thousands of schooling Bannerfish fluttering in the water like butterflies in a deep blue sky makes this dive site one of the most popular dive sites in the Maldives . A sleepy hollow for lobsters to sleep between the rocks and overhangs. The beautiful site is well suited for beginners and less experienced divers
